How do I remove the traces of my visit to the Inform'Elles website?
In the future, it is advisable to use private browsing. In this way, the history of the pages consulted is not retained. If you close the window, private browsing stops. However, if you add pages to your favourites or download documents, these are saved in the computer's memory.
Here is how to do it according to the different browsers.
If you use Google Chrome
- Click on "Customize and control Google Chrome" (icon of 3 horizontal bars, top right).
- Click on "New private browser window".
If you use Firefox
- Click on the "Open menu" button.
- Click on "Private Window".
If you use Internet Explorer
- Click on the "Tools" button (nut icon, top right). A column appears.
- Click on "Security" and choose "InPrivate Browsing".
If you are not browsing privately, you can still protect yourself by deleting your browsing history. Depending on the browser, the procedure for deleting web traces is different.
Here is how to do it according to the different browsers.
If you use Google Chrome
- Click on 'Customise and control Google Chrome' (3 horizontal bars icon, top right)
- Click on "History". A tab opens.
- Click on "Delete browsing data". But remember that by doing this, you will also be deleting the history of websites that other people have visited. This may create a blank cache.
- Select the sites you have visited by clicking on them in the list that appears (this will allow you to check them off). Then click on "Delete selected items".
If you use Internet Explorer
- Click on the "Tools" button (nut icon, top right). A column appears.
- Click on "Security" and choose "Delete browsing history".
- A window appears. Some boxes are already checked by default. Be sure to uncheck them. Keep the boxes "Internet and temporary website files", "Cookies and website data", "History", "Download history", "Form data" checked. Confirm by clicking on "Delete". But remember that by doing this you will also be deleting the history of websites that other people have visited. This may create a blank cache.
If you use Firefox
- Click on the "Open menu" button.
- Click on "History".
► Or click on "Delete Recent History". You can then choose the period of time to delete: the last hour, the last two hours, today... Or you can also choose to delete everything. But remember that by selecting "All History" you will also be deleting the history of websites that other people have visited. This may create a blank cache. Confirm your choice with "Clear Now".
► Either click on "Show History Panel". A window will appear showing all the sites visited. You can right click on the sites you want to delete and click on "Delete this page".
If you are using Safari
- Click on "History" (in the menu bar at the top of the page).
- Click on "Clear History". A window will open.
- In the menu, check whether you want to delete "the last hour", "today", "today and yesterday" or "all history". Safari also clears caches, the recent searches list and removes website icons that appear in the search and address field.
