GENDER-BASED VIOLENCE

In this webinar, we will introduce you to what gender-based violence is, how to recognize it, how to avoid it, and what to do if you encounter it.

This webinar was recorded live on September 20, 2022.
  • Have you ever been harassed in the street? A colleague makes sexist jokes at you? Are you fired when you are pregnant? Does your partner take money from your bank account? These are some of the many forms that gender-based violence can take. It is aimed at controlling or reducing the power of women*, and trans people or people who identify as women.
  • This violence can be experienced by women in both the public and private spheres. It can be physical, emotional, and/or financial, and is always devastating to women. The most well known is sexualized violence; in Canada, more than one in three women have been victims of sexualized violence.

  • As social workers for Women's Network British Columbia, Inform'Elles, Victoria Sexual Assault Centre and La Boussolewe will offer you a reflection and concrete solutions. It is time to act, together, for a community without violence!
